How important do you think It Is to ‘Build Character’?

I think it’s fairly important to build character because that’s how people become respectful, empathetic, and learn manners. These are all important traits to help one succeed within society in the future.

What is your current HIM position and what are your responsibilities in that position?

My current HIM position is a trainer. I am responsible for scheduling meetings with my trainee, going through either the mentor and teaching portion of TTT with them, and at the end of each lesson, I give them critical feedback on how they could improve.

How has HIM affected your life so far?

This is my third term and throughout my time at HIM I have learned important skills that I was able to put on my resume, like interpersonal skills and computer proficiency. The organization has also allowed me to become closer with my friends through the events we volunteer in together. I have also met some new people, or reconnected with old friends because of the events.

What motivates you to wake up early to volunteer for a Charity Run?

I am motivated by the interactions I have with people when I volunteer. When volunteering I am not only interacting with people in HIM but I’m also able to connect with the athletes that participated in the events. I like seeing how my contributions make an impact on the community.
