If I became invisible for ten minutes right now, I would just go outside and wander around at night. You can see a lot of interesting things when people think they're alone! Normally, I wouldn't feel safe outside by myself during the night, but I would be safe under the cloak of invisibility, so I'd really be free to do what ever I wanted.
I think what motivates me the most is the fear of failure. I try hard in school and academics because I don't know what I'd do with myself if I couldn't live up to other people's expectations. Probably not the best motivation, but it's certainly been working thus far!
I think "building character" is too general a term to easily place significance on. I believe it's important to have a good quality of character, but often building character refers to suffering and hardship. You don't need to struggle or face adversity to become a better person, but I suppose if that's what it takes, then it is what it is.
My current HIM position is as an Outreach APM! I delegate tasks to Outreach Coordinators and work on Spotlight posts (making one for myself, actually...!). I only recently transferred to the department, but so far it's been quite pleasant! The other PMs are kind and helpful, and the work has not been very heavy.
I want to be remembered as someone who tried her best. Even if I didn't succeed with what ever I tried, I just want people to know that I put everything I had into it.
The most valuable lesson I've learned is to never take things for granted. Life is unpredictable, and can change in the blink of an eye. I try to roll with the punches and be adaptable, and it's helped me in times of strife.
My favorite show is Spy x Family, and my favorite character would be Loid Forger! It's a very charming anime about a spy, Loid, who has to build a fake family in order to fulfill his mission. I watch it with my friend in our spare time, and it just has a special place in my heart for the memories I made with them.
If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be potatoes. They are extremely versatile and I adore them in every form... except raw, of course. Plus, I know I could never give up curly fries.
It's been really fun interacting with other people in HIM leadership! I think the chance to peek behind the scenes of events is really interesting, and I love being a part of getting to make it happen. I'm really thankful for this experience, and I want to keep working hard!
HIM has given me so many experiences I am grateful for! Even through the early mornings and long shifts, I still find myself content at the end of the day for being able to make a positive difference. I'm so glad I've taken this opportunity to give back to my community, and want to continue however I can.
I've always really enjoyed helping people, and even in the early hours of the morning, I try to keep that attitude! I'm definitely not a morning person, but seeing all the runners and their hard work inspires and energizes me.
If you're thinking of joining the Leadership Program, go for it! It's a fulfilling experience with so many opportunities and ways to make new connections. I'm not the most outgoing person, but I've made some good friends in my time here! As for advice, just that you should bring a positive attitude and be prepared for commitment. So far, it hasn't been extremely time consuming, but you should definitely put effort into what ever you are assigned. The pay off is worth it!
