Right now, I would probably say that I visit youtube.com the most for entertainment, inspiration, and music. I like to watch historical c-dramas on the platform in my free time, and at other times, it gives me inspiration for acting and crafts. YouTube is also my to-go place for music, as I don't use music apps like Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, etc. Most of the available music apps are very scarce in c-pop or just Chinese music in general, and YouTube is a bit more diverse, so I find the site pretty convenient to find music I'm into.
I would say that many of the people around me affect the way I think about life and the world, and ultimately inspire me to be the person I am today. My parents inspire me with their confidence, determination, and continuous hard work, while my friends inspire me with their selflessness, open-mindedness, and their carefree attitude towards life. I look up to them, as I believe there are shining points in their take on the universe.
If I could, I would dedicate all my time to improving my acting skills because I wouldn't say that I am especially talented in my art. I feel like that's what I'm passionate about right now and I believe that art - any form of art - takes time and effort to improve and nurture into a successful, presentable performance/showcase that makes the audience feel it was worthy of their time and it impacted them in some way.
One thing people misunderstand about me is that I'm not a very approachable person. Almost everybody around me say that their first impression of me was that I was a person with a seemingly rigid posture and personality. To people I don't know too well, I am usually pretty awkward and quiet, but if you get to know me better, I try to be approachable, and am sometimes a bit of an oddball.
If I knew I was going to die in one hour, I would probably be in disbelief, but I would tell myself to just try and breathe. I would try be with my family and friends one last time, but I don't think I would want any teary goodbyes. I would want my relationship with them to end in a peaceful, if not happy, conversation or event just to feel the world through intimate and close ones in tranquility.
Beside necessities, one thing I would say I cannot live one day without is my phone because of all the communication tools on it. I didn't have a completely working phone all throughout middle school and at the beginning of my freshman year, and because of the high technology world we live in now, I just felt so left out because many of my friends and classmates were communicating outside of class through cell phones. This just goes to show how important communication is for me personally as well as for many others who don't currently have access to internet or a device.
If I could make one rule that everyone had to follow, it would be "remember where you started and began your journey". I feel strongly about keeping to the roots of one's aspirations because only if you remember and consistently keep in mind what you started from and grew from, can you be true to your dreams and remain pure in what you do.
Knowing that I am able to make a change in someone's day during a Charity Run motivates me, and makes me feel like I have a purpose in this world. At Charity Runs, I can volunteer with my friends, so in addition to being able to make a contribution to society, I can also see middle school friends I wouldn't normally have a chance to hang out with. Volunteering for Charity Runs give me a different sense of accomplishment and achievement I normally don't get from doing school work and extracurriculars.
Heart In Motion has affected my life in various positive ways and gave me, or rather provoked inner qualities I didn't think I had. I'm an introvert (most of the time) and through the internship program as well as volunteering at events, I have become less shy when meeting/talking to strangers. In helping others, I feel needed and purposeful, and this feeling has increased my self-esteem and the way I see myself. HIM has inspired me to have a bigger heart for both my community and myself.
I think the HIM Internship Program was pretty low-stress and very informational. I learned much about the structure of HIM and how it organizes its volunteer program. This internship opportunity has also taught me time management, consistency in work, and a bit about Google Sheets, which are all applicable to my school life as well as personal habits.
If life is a game, like some people say, the rules would be the basic morals of reality, no cheating, and no redos. No redos because you only have one chance to live your life. Every choice you make when shown a forked path is, in a way, permanent. That choice (even a small one) can determine something of your future. Your time is invested in this choice. If life were to be a game, you are gambling playing this game because the choices you make determine your victory or defeat.
I want to be remembered for how I spent my lifetime and the things I put time and effort into. I'm still not quite sure what my goal is, but I want it to be true to who I am and what I want to achieve. It is my belief that legacy serves a person justice and is therefore evidence of their character and existence.
