My ideal way to spend the weekend would probably have to be the most relaxed weekend as possible. This includes just resting up my energy, chilling out by doing what I enjoy (like video games, anime, online chatting with friends) and most of all getting as much sleep as I can. These days, I find myself not getting much sleep due to my busy school schedule, so sleep is very important to me. I would sometimes change it up slightly and find more productive things to do, such as trying to clean or fix things that have been bugging me for the past week(s) or hanging out with my friends.
If I had the choice to eat only one food for the rest of my life, then the only food I would probably choose is sushi. Sushi is one of my favorite foods to eat: one, being that I love Japanese food and two, being that it is just so good. My love for sushi sparked at this one Japanese restaurant, which is at the corner of the block near my house. This restaurant makes the best sushi out there for people to eat! Sushi also has a variety of combinations and styles that you can eat like plain fish, rolls, fried, etc.
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned in my life is to always think before you act. I’ve practically lived by this lesson for the longest time (probably because it’s the one I’ve taken the most seriously). I treated this lesson as one of the biggest first steps I needed to take when I indulge myself in an action. I create a scenario in my head of "what would happen if I did this or if I did that," and select the best possible outcome. This is also the one I most fear too. Even though I've always had this lesson in my mind, it’s also mostly been dragging me back due to my passion of wanting to try new things. My brain shows me different outcomes of what would happen if I did this. For this reason, I’ve seen myself hold back from trying some new things.
My motivation is the drive to try something new. In all my experience, I’ve never really thought of myself to actually participate in these kinds of events because of my lack of interest in most things. However, I wanted to change that. I get up early because I signed up for this and I want to get the experience of what it’s like to volunteer.
The event that I most looked forward to was the “Escape To Alcatraz” marathon because it was one of the first HIM events that I signed up for. When I saw this event, I thought about all of the other events I saw and realized I have not actually tried to participate in them so when I saw this event, I really wanted to experience what the volunteering with HiM was like. In my opinion, this event left the best impression on me because I found this event to be really fun, aside from waking up early, but I signed up for that so it’s cool.
My experience with HIM has just been fantastic! For the past 2 events that I’ve participated in, HiM has shown me how fun it is to do these kinds of things with friends and other fellow HiM members. Overall, the environment was so positive with everyone having that enlightening aura that shows their drive to participate in these events. With this kind of experience, it left me wanting to participate in more events in the upcoming future.
HIM has improved my social skills with people since I lost the ability to engage with social contact face to face due to Covid-19. I feel like I more determined to engage in new things in life and open up to newer experiences, since I tend to “constantly do the same thing over and over and over again”. HiM left me motivated to do more and participate in more events because I really enjoyed the company of my friends and others, who are there for the same reason as me. Overall, HiM left me with a new central idea of “getting out of my comfort zone” and giving me the chance to improve upon myself.
