I don’t think I’d do much more with that than just running around and playing (very harmless) pranks on my sister. There isn’t much I’d like to do with invisibility - especially right now, where I’m sitting at a desk doing homework - but light-hearted messing with my family and friends sounds pretty entertaining.
I’d like it if people understood each other just a bit more. Lack of consideration for others and their situations is the root of a lot of today’s problems, and I sincerely believe that the world would be a better place with this.
I’d choose to spend a weekend chilling somewhere outside of San Francisco with my family and a couple friends. Having a weekend free from any stress or homework sounds pretty nice, and getting that extra time with people I care about would make it even better!!
That’s a hard question that I usually answer differently every time it’s asked, but I think I’d choose plums or a similar fruit, like nectarines or peaches. They’re sweet but not sweet to the point where drinking water wouldn’t dispel the taste, and besides that, they’re one of my favorite foods already. Plus, they’re healthy- as healthy as only eating a single food can be, of course.
Over the years, as school and extracurriculars got more time-intensive, I’ve really learned the importance of a strong, supportive community. The people around me have kept me going through hard times and I’ve been unbelievably lucky to be a part of such tight circles. Participating in my teams and communities has become one of the most important elements of my life, and I’ve never felt so supported. I couldn’t do it without the people that have had my back through every step of the way.
I’d want to work as a game developer! Game dev is my passion and I would love to devote my career to directing the creative elements or programming of video games. It’s a field I’ve been interested in for the majority of my life and I’d like to pursue it even if pay and hours were a factor. I think that immediately choosing it under both sets of circumstances proves that it’s truly my passion, which is pretty cool :)
I was looking forward to the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon for weeks before the event, and it genuinely exceeded every expectation I had. I loved chatting with the runners on the Saturday shift and discussing the next day’s race with them. I met so many incredible athletes from across the globe and that’s not an experience I’d trade for anything!! On Sunday, I worked the finish corral, passing out water to the fatigued racers, which was equally rewarding. EFAT was inspiring and so uplifting from so many perspectives, and I’m unbelievably happy that I chose to volunteer there.
Seeing the runners’ energy so early in the morning is overwhelmingly inspiring to me. I love the race day environment and it makes me almost as excited as participants are!! As a cross country runner, racing and the exciting energy at races are things I hold close to my heart. Being there, before and during the races, will always be worth an early morning to me.
I haven’t had too much experience working with HIM thus far, but it’s been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone is super nice and supportive even if they don’t know you, and my take-away from my first event was “this is a group I want to get involved with”! Events are well-organized and HIM seems like it cares a lot for its volunteers, which feels nice when I’m volunteering with the group for the majority of the day. I look forward to getting more experience volunteering with HIM because it’s been nothing but great so far!
HIM has made it easier for me to find volunteering opportunities which I have trouble finding myself. After joining HIM, I also became better at communicating and handling situations I have never experienced before.
