Summer '21 A Intern
Lowell High School
Class of 2024
Most of the websites I visit are for school, but if I were to think of a personal website (not application) I visit most often on my laptop it would probably be Youtube or Pinterest. I used to use Youtube more often and I had many favorite youtubers, but now I mostly watch compilations of my favorite actors/movies/tv shows, interviews, and I have recently found myself starting to watch cooking/baking recipe videos, as well as cleaning/purging videos! Interest is also a website I started visiting more often recently, and it's where I find a lot of my outfit, painting, jewelry, etc inspiration!
This may be a very basic answer, but my mom and older sister are the main people who inspire me to be the person I am today! They are incredible role models and people I have looked up to since I was little. Additionally, strong women in STEM or in law/government jobs are people that continue to inspire me everyday. A popular example I could think of would definitely be AOC with not only her strong work ethic, but her ability to grow so much in her career while being so young and independent, as well as being able to stand up for herself so confidently.
This is a very cliche answer, but I would definitely spend it surrounded by my loved ones. My family and friends are very valuable and close to me, and if I knew I was going to die in an hour and didn't have a chance to travel or go anywhere, I would most definitely spend it with loved ones. Another thing I could do is write some texts or letters to my loved ones that live far away! If we're looking for a less cliche answer/individual answer, I would lay on a beach or go somewhere relaxing with nobody else there to ease up and calm down.
Besides the necessities needed to live, I can definitely not live without music. I was never an instrumental/band/orchestra person myself, but listening to my favorite songs/artists is something I do on a daily (even hourly sometimes) basis, and is something I really don't think I could function/be relaxed without. Music is such an art and the different genres, rhythms, tones, beat changes, etc in songs (especially upbeat or nostalgic music) is enough to cheer me up in an instant. Another thing that isn't so literal/physical that I couldn't live a day without is humor. Humor from others and myself that I can laugh at on an hourly basis has always been something I cherish and undoubtedly could not live without.
During my time in Leadership, HIM has taught me more about how to efficiently work, how to work well collaboratively with others, as well as the importance of volunteering. HIM has also taught me that students (middle and high school) are strong and knowledgeable enough to lead such an important organization and take on the roles of coordinators, managers, assistants, and even executive directors! Adding on to one of my previous statements, HIM has taught me a ton about group work and how much you can learn from others and from asking questions!. Overall, HIM has affected my life by teaching me many things that can be helpful later on in a full workplace, as well as the importance of volunteering and teaching others.
The HIM Internship Program is a great way to learn about online applications (e.x: Google applications, Dropbox, Canva, etc), as well as build on various skills relating to professionalism, management, responsibility, etc. I think the HIM Internship Program is amazing, especially for young middle schoolers/high schoolers that haven't gotten a full job/management experience. In addition to the learning experience, you get to interact and work with many other students around the same age as you, and learn from them as well, which is very helpful as they have also gone through internship not too long before you. The HIM Internship Program is also great because it allows you to train through lessons and meet others within HIM Leadership to prepare you to take on larger roles in HIM such as coordinators, program managers, executive assistants, executive directors, etc.
Besides the obvious rules of being kind to others, being respectful, responsible, supportive, etc, I think a rule should be that you have to have a sense of humor and cannot be stuck up. Humor is a trait that truly brings happiness to all and is something that I myself cherish in not only my personality, but others' as well, and is something that I look for in friendships/people in general. It's obviously enough to lift your mood, and stuck up people with little to no humor are never enjoyable to be around. Additionally, humor can come in so many different ways and bring out people's smiles and laughs, and can cheer people up, which is an incredible trait to possess.
Charity has always been something I have wanted to help out with and give my time towards. A Charity Run is something I would definitely wake up early and volunteer for to give back to people who may not be able to run themselves (who the charity donations/volunteering goes towards). A Charity Run is such a great way (and an affordable way for people who may not have the money to donate to charity) to volunteer your free time and give to people (/the subject of the charity) in need, and also a great way to start your morning! Contributing to a good cause is always something I would give my time to do.
If I had to choose a rule that everyone had to follow, it would be to not develop anger/be disrespectful towards a group of people based on things they cannot change/generalizing populations. So much hate and anger is spread daily towards people of different races, sexualities, ethnicities, etc solely because they belong to those groups. These traits shouldn't be thought of as labels that are treated differently than others because of how much hate that causes to spread on a daily basis due to things people do not have the ability to change about themselves.
Something many people think about me, especially when they first meet me, is that I am a very shy person that focuses only on school. Although shyness may be a true trait for when you first meet me, I am overall a very outgoing, humorous, and generally fun person to be around once you get to know me a bit better. I laugh at almost anything and although I am very studious, I love a good party/break from school/work! I'm starting to get more outgoing with first impressions now, but I sometimes am still very shy, you just have to get to know me!
I would definitely choose family to spend all my time with if I could because a lot of my family don't live near me, but if we're talking personally/individually, I would travel to a very relaxing place with a lot of beaches and places to calm down. I haven't traveled to many tropical/calming places with many beaches and relaxing areas, but they seem like places to ease up and lose some stress. Places like Bali, Hawaii, or parts of Greece and Italy would be some good examples! I think relaxation and good mental health is very important and can improve your physical and emotional health as well!
I want to be remembered for my humor. With many of my other answers, it is clear that humor and the ability to make family/friends laugh is such a big and important trait for me. Being able to put a smile on people's faces and being remembered for the laughs and smiles I created is without a doubt something I would love to be honored for. Humor is such a big part of many lives and the reason people smile daily and experience joy, which I think is incredible and such an amazing thing to be remembered for!
