Acting Program Manager and Executive Assistant
Washington High School
Class of 2022
If I became invisible for 10 minutes, I would go for a walk outside the way we normally would before the pandemic (without masks and everything). I miss the feeling on freely walking on the streets and smiling to people, while enjoying the smell of restaurants.
Seeing others persevere towards their goals and strive for what they believe in makes me motivated to do the same. I would always think to myself: “If others can do it, you can do it too.” Living by this, I will work hard to achieve a future I’ll be proud of, not be embarrassed of.
As an acting program manager, my main tasks are monitoring the training the trainer lessons, internship lessons, and training the new EA trainees. These tasks require communication, leadership, and collaborative skills, which I have further developed in HIM.
I want others to remember me as someone who always works hard towards her goals and put effort into everything she’s doing. Growing up, I have become a sympathetic person, so it’d be heartwarming to have someone remember me as someone who they can rely on and freely express themselves.
With several different fillings that can be wrapped inside, I would choose sushi. it will take a while to get sick of it since, well first of all, it’s good. and second I can switch up the fillings in the sushi: egg and spam, cucumbers and spam, unagi and avocado. Or if I’m feeling only seaweed and rice, that’s still considered as sushi!
The HIM leadership crew is like a group of friends that can easily bond and instantly click. Everyone is friendly and outgoing while being on top of their tasks. Whenever I need assistance, there are numerous people I can reach out to, and every one of them will happily lend a helping hand. Most leadership officers are communicatively efficient, so when a conflict arises, they aren’t afraid to speak up and solve it.
My one year anniversary in HIM was actually in April of this year. Along the way, I have experienced and gained so many situations/skills that I wouldn’t be able to encounter prior to joining HIM. I have met many new people and created relationships that are both personal and professional. From teaching internship lessons to training other officers, it has drastically improved my communication skills and boosted my confidence in the realm of public speaking. I am beyond grateful for that.
