Internship Junior Coordinator
Lowell High School
Class of 2022
If I became invisible, I would like to sneak into a fancy art gallery, like the Louvre, and just look at all the paintings. Hop on Nasa's next spaceship, and go to the moon. Go into a secret radioactive lab, and gain more superpowers like super speed and telekinesis. And then maybe I would play a prank one of my friends, cause hey why not?
That's a difficult question to answer, because a lot of things motivate me. My family always has my back, and they inspire me to work towards my dreams, college and career wise. My friends are also important to me, and talking with them always uplifts my mood. I'm also able to self motivate myself, keeping my confidence up and telling myself that I can do it, whether it be homework or a personal goal.
I think it is very important to build character. It means working hard to improve at what you might find difficult at first, to persevere. You can do this by consistently listening to feedback and setting new goals for yourself. Don't be afraid to try something new, it could lead to the next innovation!
Currently, I am a Junior Coordinator in the Internship Department. One responsibility that I had this term was to train new Junior Coords, by teaching them how to do different roles within leadership. It is important to be aware of the meeting schedules, so that you can always be on time. When I had a question about something, it was useful to look at HIM resources, like Intranet, or going to one of my Program Managers!
The most valuable lesson that I have learned in my life is to be kind, always. I learned this when I was very young, and it's a motto that I stand by. You never know know what someone else may be going through. It's also just a good value to have, making you a more understanding and well-rounded person.
My favorite TV show switches around a lot, but right now, it's WandaVision. I think it's really fun how they are exploring each of the different decades, using sitcom tropes. Also, I love each episodes theme song. My favorite character within the show would have to be Vision.
If I were to eat one food, it would probably be sour cream and onion Pringles, because they are just so good! Or just any kind of Pringles.... or a stack that would mix two flavors? I may be overthinking this.
I feel proud to say that I am part of the HIM Leadership Crew. It is such a great opportunity to have, because I am learning new skills that will benefit me in a future work environment. I also like collaborating with others on projects, sharing ideas and designing the different aspects of it. The community is welcoming and inclusive, listening to and supporting each other as we go along our HIM journey.
Heart in Motion has been a really positive influence in my life so far. I've met so many amazing people, during my internship and through talking to people in HIM club meetings. Related to that, I've also become more outgoing and courageous since joining leadership, with gaining communication skills and trying to volunteer more. It's overall been a great learning experience to have, being able to see what it's like to run an organization.
If you have the time, then you should join! I found it interesting to learn about all the departments within leadership, what tasks they do and how they complete each of them. It also teaches you how to use a bunch of useful apps, like Notion, Workplace, Dropbox, and Good Drive. Also, if you like to play Kahoot, don't worry, we have a whole team dedicated to making them!
